Kelly Scollin

Kelly Scollin is originally from North Carolina and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from East Tennessee State University, where he studied trumpet with Dr. David Champouillon. After attending an I.T.G. conference held at the Lamont School of Music, and participating in a master class with Al Hood, he decided to pursue graduate studies at Denver University, working towards a Master’s degree in trumpet performance. Kelly is currently playing in the Lamont Jazz Orchestra, principal trumpet in the Lamont Wind Ensemble, and co-principal in the Lamont Symphony Orchestra. As a teaching assistant, he enjoys the challenge of playing a wide variety of music, teaching privately, and working closely with faculty to develop a better understanding of brass pedagogy and performance. In the past, he has participated in master classes and jazz festivals with well-respected musicians such as Ronald and Avis Romm, Ron Modell, Vincent DiMartino, and Jon Faddis. Kelly looks forward to participating in the Mendez Brass Institute this summer and to actively performing and teaching at the collegiate level in the future.
