ERIC WHELAN

ERIC WHELANEric Whelan was born in Dallas, Texas in 1988. He attended school in Lewisville, Texas until 1997 when he moved to Colorado and began to play the trumpet. He soon became brass captain, section leader, and principal trumpet of his Dakota Ridge High School marching band, 8-1-5 Jazz Ensemble and the high school wind ensemble. During this time he also played with the Jefferson County Youth Symphony Orchestra as well as in the Jefferson All-County band. Following high school he auditioned for and was accepted to Denver University's Lamont School of Music.

Currently, Eric is in his second year at the Lamont School of Music and is involved in the University’s Wind Ensemble, Brass Quintet, University Jazz Ensemble, and performing in the pit for the theatre musical. He is studying under Alan Hood and is on track for a Bachelor in Music in Trumpet Performance.
